SYNOPSIS

We understand that the BIM have been adopted through the world. It has been a hot topic to many countries. In our Malaysia, according to the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) on Nov 2016 said Construction industry players will be required to use the Building Information Modelling (BIM) system on government projects worth over RM100mil by 2020.

As a result, recent years, BIM is getting more and more popular in AEC industry. Professionals include Architects, Consultants and Engineers gradually aware and understand the value and importance of BIM and seriously consider to implement BIM within their organizations. However, many organizations still find that there are obstacles and challenges to adopt BIM which cause them hesitation to move forward. There are many issues arise due to some challenges.

BIODATA OF SPEAKER

1.    Mr Chee Shai Choon

Currently, Chee Shai Choon leads a group of software developers in C & S Software Solutions Sdn Bhd which incorporated in  year 2006. His clients mainly in Malaysia. He has been used BricsCAD since the version of V8. Latest edition of BricsCAD is V18. Initially he was jointed Bricsys as a developer of BricsCAD where he used it to build many utilities for BricsCAD. He can go into the API of BricsCAD to modify the BricsCAD environment to meet he own need. With the years with Bricsys, he has gained the trust from Bricsys where now he is a partner of Bricsys. Some of his products development had been listed in Bricsys Third parties’ development. He had participated in few BricsCAD Conference such as BricsCAD Asean Conference 2016 and Munich German 2015.

Besides, he also actively involved in many activities such as conducting talks, seminars and trainings in various organizations like IEM, JOS in JPS Ampang, Wawasan Professional Training Centre in KL. One of his latest event is 1 day course on Digital Edition of Urban Stormwater Management Manual for Malaysia (MSMA) 2nd Edition-March 2018(IEM PJ HQ).

2.    Mr Maurice Kong
Graduated from Hong Kong Polytechnic in 1981, Mr. Maurice Kong has over 35 years’ experience in sales and business development which includes BIM consulting services as well. His earlier BIM knowledge and experience gained from dealing with major property developers, architects, consultants and contractors in Hong Kong and China since 2010.

He is currently the Business Development Manager of Bricsys and his main responsibility is to provide pre-sales support to partners and customers in Asia. He has been working closely with partners and professional Institutions in Taiwan, Korea and Indonesia for the AEC market.
