SYNOPSIS

IECEx Certification promotes safety at the workplace by Mr. Basori b Hj. Selamat

Fires and explosion are the most likely the result of an accident either at an Oil and Gas plant, a petrochemical plant, an exploration platform or other industries, which could cause injuries, fatalities, property damages and environmental disaster. The personnel involved in accidents were often severely burned or permanently injured and some may lead to fatality. Some of these personnels will never be able to return to their jobs or to any occupation.  Such accidents could be avoided if all personnel working in these industries is highly competent and qualified, and all equipment installed are of high quality and certified.

IEC Ex (IEC on Explosion‐proof in Explosive Atmosphere) at National Standards, and Rotating Machine Standards in Hazardous Area by Ir. Mohamad Faudzi b Mohd. Yasir
The speaker will be sharing on the direction of national standards in the context of Oil and Gas Industry, in term how do we manage the standards of equipment installation in hazardous area.  It defines the role of Standards Malaysia, the industry and the professional in Malaysia on IECEx.
He will be also sharing on installation of rotating machine in hazardous area, the criteria on hazardous area, the standards, hazardous area classification and practices.

Design, Selection & Erection of Equipment for Explosion Atmospheres in Tropical Service Conditions – IEC 60079‐14 & MS 2894:2018 by Ir Quah Ewe Hock.
Ir. Quah will provide brief introduction to basic fire triangle for explosion, the common standards in use, how hazardous areas are classified and some common explosion protection techniques to help those new to this area. Talk will then cover the salient points in the IEC 60079‐14 standards on design, selection and erection of electrical equipment in explosive atmospheres with emphasis on the requirements introduced in the recently approved Malaysian Standards MS 2894: 2018 on Electrical Equipment for use in Explosive Atmospheres in Tropical Service Conditions.
