SYNOPSIS
The Selangor Government’s mission statement is to become a Smart State in 2025. The Smart Selangor blueprint looks to addresses Smart Governance, Smart Digital Infrastructure, Smart Disaster Management, Smart Building, Smart Safety & Security, Smart Food and Agro, Smart Energy, Smart Water Management, Smart Transport & Mobility, Smart Waste Management, Smart Healthcare, and Smart Education. According to the NDMA (National Disaster Management Agency), about a quarter of the Malaysian population are living in areas that are flood prone. While the severity of the flood may not be as damaging as the East Coast, climate change has brought about uncertainty in weather patterns globally. Integrated crisis management system and early warning system to enable better inter-agency coordination will be the future need. Using appropriate IT technologies to better prepare citizens for calamities will a natural progression. This visit is hosted by the Selangor Disaster Management Unit and it will focus on Smart Disaster Management.
