SYNOPSIS

Duta – Ulu Kelang Expressway (DUKE) formerly known as the Kuala Lumpur North East Expressway (KLNEE), the expressway was a prominent element in the Kuala Lumpur Road Master Plan as highlighted in the Japan International Corporation Agency (JICA) Transport Study which was carried out for the Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) in 1985. Earmarked by DBKL as one of the key links to complete the Kuala Lumpur Master Traffic Dispersal Plan, KESTURI had carried out a detailed study on the alignment spanning three years including an Environmental Impact Assessment and Public Opinion Survey. Both these studies and reports were approved before the Concession Agreement was signed with the Malaysian Government on 12th August 2004.

The Expressway was officially launched by the Works Minister, Yang Berhormat Dato Mohd Zin Mohamed, on 9 January 2009. Designed to cater for 120,000 vehicles per day, the Expressway will offer an attractive alternative route for residents in the Klang Valley, especially for those travelling from east to west and vice versa and for those heading towards the city centre.

The Expressway operates an open toll system at its three toll plazas located at Batu, Sentul Pasar and Ayer Panas, with a fixed toll rate depending on the class of vehicle. With 46% of the Expressway alignment toll-free, users can plan their journey using the 7 interchanges and 5 ramps to get to their respective destinations.
Each toll plaza has electronic toll collection system which is Touch n’ Go and Smart Tag facilities to ensure that the expressway users will be able to pass through the lane area quickly. All the toll operators at our multiclass lanes are well trained to provide efficient, friendly and courteous services to all users.
