SYNOPSIS

In the view of recent flood occurred in Penang and Seremban in month of November 2017. It had raised a question of in what extend of stormwater management has been adopted in Malaysia? How effectiveness of stormwater management in our engineering projects?  Is the MSMA is difficult to understand? Building must ensure on-site-detention (OSD) installed as per MSMA.

As we understand, MSMA had been gone through 17 years of implementation from year 2000, until today, it had released the 2nd edition. The adoption of this guideline is getting popular. However, there are still a number of engineers especially in consulting engineering field, where need to educate for the fully adoption of this guideline. As for example, we are encountered that there still have engineers that cannot differentiated the On-site detention with detention pond. Course will cover all chapters in MSMA guideline together with digital mode which is in the form of a software updated to MSMA 2nd edition hence it would include detention basin and on-site detention (OSD).

One of most interesting feature is that user can locate the rainfall station through live map(internet connection is required). Another is the output drawing from the software can be opened in any CAD application that supported 3D; like AutoCAD, BricsCAD, ZWCAD, GStar etc.

MR CHEE SHAI CHOON

Currently, Chee Shai Choon leads a group of software developers in C & S Software Solutions Sdn Bhd which incorporated in  year 2006. His clients mainly in Malaysia, somehow, there are some clients in Singapore, Brunei and Vietnam. In order to meet his clients’ requirement, he has fully concentrated on and only on this company. He has developed a core MSMA suite together with his group which covers all Chapters in MSMA 2nd edition of guideline.
He also is the developer of the Infrastructure software for Erosion and Sediment Control Plan(myESCP), 3D Earthworks(Zeon Earth), Urban Stormwater Design(xStorm, ZeonStorm, Storm), Water reticulation(Aquator), drain (Drain+), sewer network(Sewer+), Sediment Basin and Singapore Pub design software. This year will be his 11 years anniversary on computer business. He is keeps on update his knowledge especially in stormwater field where enable him to invent more values in engineering products. During the developing of civil engineering products, he has gained in-depth knowledge of the design process involved and would be able to share his knowledge and experience with participants.

He is also a civil engineer with good technical knowledge in engineering concepts. He has accumulated 21 years of his experience in field of IT and engineering design. His official website www.civilstructural.com.my.

Along with his involvement on IT, he had conducted a number of talks/training in various organizations like IEM, JOS in JPS Ampang, Wawasan Professional Training Centre in KL. Most recent talk on Oct 2017 was invited by Jabatan Pengairan dan Saliran for the topic of “MSMA 2nd edition Way Forward”.
