SYNOPSIS
This talk is held in conjunction with the National Preparedness Month. The month of October has been officially designated by the government of Malaysia as ‘Bulan Kesiapsiagaan Nasional (BKN)’. October 13 had been declared as the International Day for Disaster Reduction, by the UN General Assembly in 1989. This is time to increase risk-awareness and disaster reduction, which includes disaster prevention, mitigation and preparedness. IEM is proud to present this talk as contribution to these causes.
The talk would focus on some of the efforts that IEM DDRAB had done for the 2017 coastal flooding, in particular for the Selangor state. As new information and resources for engineers and the community, this talk will also cover some of the latest development in the flood forecasting, the draft Malaysian standards on earthquake and the hillslope risk mapping.
