Call for Papers - The 4th International Women in Science, Engineering & Technology (WiSET 2026)
Inclusive Innovation: Women Leading Digital & Sustainable Transformation
Sub Themes: - Inclusive Digital Transformation & Emerging Technologies - Sustainable Leadership, ESG & Women in Industry
1. Introduction of Women Engineers Section
The IEM Women Engineers Section (IEM WES) was established to connect and empower women engineers across Malaysia and internationally. As stated in the original proposal, the section “forges robust networks that promote collaboration and mutual support” and “champions gender diversity in engineering through events, mentorship programmes and outreach initiatives.”
In 2026, IEM WES is strategically positioned to support Malaysia’s transformation under the National Semiconductor Strategy (NSS), National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), NIMP2030, and MyDIGITAL. WiSET 2026 will serve as a national platform to accelerate women’s leadership in AI, sustainability, and the deep-tech ecosystem, three pillars central to Malaysia’s economic future.
2. Introduction of Women in Science, Engineering & Technology (WiSET) Conference
The WiSET Conference series has a proud history of empowering women in STEM. The 1st WiSET was successfully organised in 2012, followed by WiSET 2018, and the 3rd WiSET in 2022 in conjunction with the 12th INWES-APNN Meeting. WiSET 2026 will be the 4th edition, continuing the tradition of excellence.
The 4th edition in 2026 builds on this legacy, with a renewed focus on frontier technologies shaping Malaysia’s next decade. The original objectives include “engaging, inspiring and building the next generation of women in Science, Engineering and Technology” and “highlighting the importance of digital tools and AI in advancing scientific and engineering research.”
WiSET 2026 expands this mandate by aligning with Malaysia’s national technology priorities.
