IEM STEM DAY 2021 – 3 to 5 Minutes Short Video Competition
Synopsis
This short video competition aims to examine the critical thinking skill of young graduates and students on solving real-life crisis using their engineering and sustainable knowledge. Organizer have provided a case study on how overpopulation could impact human’s society and the participants are required to provide innovative and feasible solution on the given problem.
To narrow down the scope, participant only need to provide the solution that fall on either one of the categories given: (1) Land (2) Food (3) Energy (4) Medical Resources
Competition Background
Advancements in technology have given tons of benefits for mankind including good medical facilities, effective communication, and revolutionized mass production in the manufacturing industry. For every plus, there is a minus. Therefore, overpopulation might be a severe issue in the near future as a result of a reduced mortality rate. The imbalance between death and birth has provided a hint on consequences such as ecological degradation, increased conflicts, and a higher risk of large-scale disasters like pandemics. Near in the indefinite future, humans will face the depletion of resources following the extinction of human mankind. |
