SYNOPSIS
The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources launched the Malaysia Renewable Energy Roadmap (MyRER) in 30 December 2021, which aims to achieve the national aspiration of 31% renewable energy (RE) capacity by 2025 and 40% by 2035. We welcomed government’s great commitment in deep decarbonising Malaysia energy systems to play a part to mitigating climate changes. As energy system is one of the essential capitals in the societal development, this colloquy intended to be igniting the spark of public discussions focusses on the underpinned pertinent issues in each major energy technologies, not limited to full-cycle analysis of Green House Gasses footprint, environmental impacts, economics, geopolitics for the supply chains etc. This will helps shed lights for a fuller picture in understanding the complicated issues, with hopefully each members of the society able achieve mutual consensus with informed policy.
