SYNOPSIS

Since 2020, the pandemic has changed quite a bit on the way people live and work. Most of us have broken the record of staying put in our own residence for the longest time. We were doing practically everything at home - both leisure and work. As Malaysia has entered into endemic, we have seen the normalisation of vehicular usage back to the way it was or even with a vengeance?

Lands are still getting more expensive and developers have no choice but to increase the density or plot ratio of each plot in order to make the end products affordable. Hence, high density development has to be designed humanly comfortable. In the same time, the importance of vehicular flow within the plot, be it a typical high density residential development, mega retail/office development or a mixed use development has to be examined mindfully.

In this session, Dato' Ar. Cheah will share some vehicular parking and movement design strategy within the project lot boundary. Focusing on human safety, efficiencies, and effective vehicle flow.


BIODATA OF SPEAKER

Dato’ Ar Cheah Kah Lip is the Managing Director in Akitek AKIPRIMA. He was born in Penang, earned Bachelor of Architecture from The University of Melbourne, Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science (Computing & Infosystem) from Deakin University Australia. He is a Malaysian Professional Architect (APAM), Chartered Architect – Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), ASEAN Architect, Malaysia Green Building Index (GBI) Certified Facilitator.

Today, he is heading one of the leading architectural firms in Malaysia and enjoyed the reputation as a reliable and innovative company. Founded first in Penang, we now have our head office in Subang Jaya and branches in Kuantan, Johor Bahru, Phnom Penh, Cambodia. We also have our associate office in east Malaysia and China. Throughout the years, Cheah has been leading an energetic team which have successfully completed and having ongoing projects ranging from Shopping Malls, Hotels, Service Apartments, Condominiums, Offices, Shops, Hospitals, Institution, Industrial and Landed Properties in Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia and China.

Cheah was a recipient of 30 under 40 Malaysia Emerging Architects by PAM. Throughout the years, he has obtained numerous awards and his firm AKIPRIMA has been awarded BCI Asia's (Building Construction Infrastructure ASIA) top 10 architecture firm in Malaysia in 2021.
