SYNOPSIS
The SYSTEM is designed to provide maximum security against the project site security which involved (but not limit to): People, Machinery, property and company reputation and welfare. All of these items have a resale value, whilst items such as fuel have an off-set cost value, making construction sites a highly profitable magnet for criminal. As such, every year, the construction industry loses £400 million through theft, and approximately the same amount again through vandalism and fire, with around 40% (approximately 100,000) of all construction site fires being started deliberately (source: Aviva –Insurance Company In UK).
Construction sites are easy target for the opportunist thief; the high value of plant and equipment can lead to quick and easy profit for the successful thief.Construction sites are subject to a number of threats, against which security should be applied by the site operator. These includes; Theft, Vandalism deliberate damage and terrorism.
The role of a security personnel is important for protecting private property and the people who reside or work on the premises they guard. However, there are several risks that security personnel often face that requires a proper management of safety and health and compliance to OSHA 1994 to avoid liability or injury. Successful crime preventions strategies should aim to reduce the risk to the construction site by increasing the risk to the thief or other criminal. The types and level of Security and protection used should be determined by the results of the risk assessment. A simple piece of advice is to not to place all in Sigle Solution.
Security provisions should be used in combination to achieve four things Deterrence, Detection, Delay and Response.
