SYNOPSIS

Node JS is a JavaScript-like programming language. The beauty of Node JS is that it has enabled millions of front-end web service developers who are good at writing java-script for front end web services to apply same scripting language for backend web services development such as writing the server-script for webservers. Using Node JS, the developers could develop both the client-side web services and backend services without the need to learn additional programming languages such as PHP. In addition, Node JS has a simple yet elegant programming structure for the learners to develop web services quickly and easily.


CLASS CONTENTS

1.  Node JS introduction and simple Hello World programming.
2.  Node JS numbers, strings, string built-in functions, Booleans and data types.
3.  Node JS input-output streams.
4.  Node JS relational operators, conditional statement, loop statements, etc.
5.  Node JS arrays, array built-in functions, objects and JSON.
6.  Node JS user-defined function, arguments, callbacks and useful utility functions.
7.  Node JS HTTP module, buffer, debugging, and introduction to MySQL database etc
8.  Using Node JS HTTP module to develop a simple HTTP webserver.

  SPEAKER’S PROFILE

Ir. Daniel Pu Chuan Hsian has more than 19 years of working experience in software development in the IT Company and teaching experience of electronic and programming subjects at colleges & universities’ levels. Currently, he serves as an academic staff in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of the University of Nottingham Malaysia. With his vast experience in the software development and teaching of programming and coding, he has been invited by the IEM and universities to conduct programming workshops, digital classes for engineers and  students by respectively.
