SYNOPSIS

Transportation systems in Malaysian form the backbone of social growth and economic expansion. However, the transport sector is responsible for the emission of almost a quarter of carbon dioxide in Malaysia.

The Malaysian Green Technology Corporation or GreenTech Malaysia, an agency under the purview of the Ministry of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment & Climate Change, is a focal point in decarbonizing Malaysia’s transportation sector. According to MGTC, more than 165 million tonnes of GHG emission needs to be removed as indicated in the Low Carbon Mobility Blueprint by 2030. The speaker will share some of the past and current action plan championed by MGTC and incentives by the Malaysian government to spur interest of the public and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to embrace sustainable and low carbon practices in their business, and especially on the use of electric vehicle. Speaker will also discuss areas where engineering professionals and engineering and automotive based entrepreneurs can contribute in fulfilling the Low Carbon Mobility Blueprint.
