SYNOPSIS
The objective of this talk is to share the presenter’s experience in using MS Projects to monitor, track, preparing S-curve, progress reports, mitigate delay and crashing of project CPM (Critical Path Method).
Prerequisite: Intermediate and Regular user of Microsoft Project Software for construction project.

TALK OUTLINE
1. How to effectively collect and key-in data for monitoring and tracking MS Project - 10 mins 2. How to monitor and track task start variance and finish variance - 10 mins 3. How to prepare progress report - 20 min 4. How to extract data for preparation of financial and physical S –curves – 20 min (Task Usage - Cost and Actual Cost) 5. How to mitigate project delay and crash project CPM (30 min) - Scenario 1 – Project delay without productivity improvement and How to reschedule the project after the MCO break - Scenario 2 – Project completion date with improvement of productivity on selected activities (check start variance and finish variance) - Scenario 3 – Project original completion date to be maintained by improvement of productivity – Crashing project CPM (review built-in float, review start slack and finish slack) 6. Q and A (Question and answer) and discussion - 30 min

BIODATA OF SPEAKER
Ir. Desmond Fung Bin Chai
Ir. Desmond Fung Bin Chai has been in the construction industry since 1984 upon his graduation from the University of Dalhousie, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada with Bachelor of Civil Engineering. In the course of implementing the construction projects, Ir. Desmond Fung has extensively used Microsoft Project CPM (Critical Path Method) to track, monitor and prepare progress report, and also provided employer/client advices to mitigate the delayed activities / project.
