Getting a job nowadays is not as easy as it usde to be. The employment proocess by the prospective employers is getting tougher and selective. The selection process often conducted through and interview session is getting very competative with more applicants looking for the same opportunity. Academic qualification based on the achievement of good CGPA alone is not the only determinant criteria anymore. Employers nowadays are looking to additional graduate attributes for practical skills or conpetencies as well as on strong ethical background. Hence, this sharing session is delivered to prospective candidates especially those with degree qualification for a decent and deserved slot in the employment market to achieve the ultimate goal in their career path. This session is held to provide the participants foor an understanding what employers are looking for and how to satisfy their needs for the right people for the right job and for the right pay.

SPEAKER BIODATA

The speaker is a Professor in Marine Transport System at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), 81300 Skudai, Johor. He possess 3rd Class Marine Engineers on top of B.Eng, Masters and PhD in various marine related areas.

He used to sail on board a ship for a year on internship program and later joining UTM as an academic staff since 1983 until now. He has taught a number of undergraduate courses in the Marine Technology program at  UTM and the 'Marine Safety and Environment’ and ‘Maritime Law’ at the  post graduate level.

Apart from engaging students in teaching and learning, he has laso been  involved in a number of marine related R&D, consultancies, short courses, audits as well as being in various management positions at UTM. Previously he was a Director of Marine Technology Centre of UTM
