SYNOPSIS

Malaysian Government, in February 2012, formulated and endorsed the National Water Resources Policy (NWRP), the National Water Balance Management System (NAWABS) is being set-up to resolve issues such water crisis management, water excesses, water shortage, demand management and threat from climate change. Using the real time inputs such as rainfall, river levels and flows, pumped extractions and structure operations, the modelling and decision system tools in the NAWABS DMSS will be used to assess existing water balance and future scenarios for droughts, as well as an operational system for real time decision management and water accounting.  


BIODATA OF SPEAKER

Ir. Dr. Asnor Muizan Bin Ishak


Ir. Dr. Asnor Muizan Ishak is a Senior Engineer for Hydrology and Water Resources Division, Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) Malaysia. He obtained his PhD in hydro-meteorology from University of Bristol, Britain. He has an experience in the field of numerical weather prediction, hydrologic forecasting and water resources modelling. He is a member for Malaysian International Hydrological Programme (MIHP) and WMO Standing Committee on Hydrological Services. Currently, he is responsible for Hydrological Technical Advice Section for RTB Project.
 
He started his career in 1999 as a water resources engineer. He has worked as an engineer at the Hydrology and Water Resources Division, Regional Humid Tropics Hydrology Centre for Southeast Asia and the Pacific (HTCKL) and District Engineer for DID Gombak, Selangor. He is the former Secretary of the Malaysian Hydrological Society (MHS) and is a lifetime member of the MHS. He was a former development team unit of NAWABS project,  former paper reviewer for Journal of Hydrological Processes and Water Resources Management.
