SYNOPSIS
Students, their parents, and educators around the world are feeling the extraordinary ripple effect of the novel coronavirus as schools, universities and colleges are shutting down and quarantine methods are being ordered to cope with the global pandemic. While governments and health officials are doing their best slowing down the outbreak, global education systems are collaborating to collectively respond and provide quality education for all during these difficult times.
In this unforeseen circumstances striking to all over the world, educators have been doing their best to maintain continuity of the education. This webinar will introduce and explain the conventional approach for engineering education before the movement control order (MCO), the steps and emergencies taken to cater the situation during MCO and provide more insights to engineering education for post MCO environment.
By the end of the talk, participants will be exposed on possess certain skills such as skills of problem-solving, critical thinking, and most importantly adaptability to survive the crisis. Moreover, this webinar also will highlight how educational institutions can build resilience in their systems to ensure and prioritize the presence of these skills in their students & rely on technology to create conditions to allow people to collaborate for different delivery modes of study learning.
BIODATA OF SPEAKER
Ts. Dr. Lau Chee Yong
Ts. Dr. Lau Chee Yong received his PhD in Biomedical Engineering in 2015, and his Bachelor degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering in 2011. He is currently an Electrical and Electronic Engineering lecturer in Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation. He is also a member of BEM, IEM, IET, IAOIP, IMM, and Young MINDS. He completed his PhD research work in the Centre of Speech Technology Research (CSTR) in the University of Edinburgh, Scotland UK. In education, he participated in flipped and blended learning strategy and he is also a practitioner of Open Distance Learning, and Online Digital Learning in his career.
