SYNOPSIS

In every engineer’s works, one of the important elements will be the drawing preparation. In the early day, it is prepared by manually using technical pen and paper or called drafting. Somehow, the invention of computer has brought human into another era which this manual drafting has been replaced by digital drafting. At the same time, there were drafting software started appearing in market. Eventually, one of the initial popular CAD software in market is AutoCAD. Software developed by AutoDESK. Now; it has more choice of CAD software in market which comprise of BricsCAD, ZWCAD, GStar, CADian, progeCAD and many more. The moment more engineering software appearing in market, indirectly it is forces engineers need to learn to do drafting instead of done by conventional draft person. With the emerging engineering software, the demand of draft person is reducing due to this task is replaced by engineers. Where now engineers are required to do drafting in the engineering software.

Furthermore, the fast growth of innovation technology will bring another technology named Building Information Modeling (BIM). It is a fast approaching technology. Somehow, we understand BIM still need a while before it become popular in our country. Therefore, the need of drafting still an important task in our daily engineer’s works. All the engineering design need to present by drawing and engineering calculation. It will carry over for some years before it really replaced by BIM.

In our drafting world, we cannot run away from geometrical elements like circle, line, polyline, text, layer, block, dimension etc. Where in CAD they are called as entity. We are using all the time in digital engineering drawing. We spend substantial of time of preparing CAD drawing. Besides, it is a common task in all our drafting works. Is there anyway to improve further on the productivity of drafting works? For instance; we need to increase all the number of 100 times from current numerical content in CAD drawing. Or append a text of “LOT” of every lot in a civil engineering layout. It is not difficult to edit a text by addition of 100 value or append “LOT” to a text in CAD. But when we need to replace or append the text to say 500 similar entities in CAD. Then it will be a problem. It will consume tremendous of time in operating the works. This is where the customization of CAD will help you.

Here is a workshop where we show you how to customize the CAD application into a way that you need. Even on you own requirement where CAD cannot provide the function to you. For a better streamline of workshop, we will be used a CAD platform named BricsCAD. An alternative CAD by Bricsys from Belgium. It is a CAD platform which comes with function of BIM. Somehow, we will focus on CAD drafting. We will show you how to customize to your own need. Another addon language will be C#. A programming language developed by Microsoft.

ABOUT SPEAKERS

Ir. Chee Shai Choon is a CPESC certified professional who leads a group of software developers in C & S Software Solutions Sdn Bhd which incorporated in  year 2006. His clients mainly in Malaysia, somehow, where else there are some clients in Singapore, Brunei and Vietnam. He is specializing in stormwater where he has developed a “core MSMA suite” which covers all the Chapters in MSMA 2nd edition. He has completed the whole MSMA2 into digital edition. He is the software developer of the Infrastructure software which provided the most comprehensive civil engineering software. The product of Erosion and Sediment Control Plan(myESCP),OSD/Pond(IntelliDrain),3D Earthworks(Zeon Earth), Detention Pond & OSD Design(ZeonStorm), XSeries modules such as Water reticulation(xWater), drainage network(xDrain), sewerage network(xSewer). Other software such as Sediment Basin and Singapore Pub design software. Further with the CPESC certified professional, he has acquired substantial of knowledge in ESCP which lead to one of his software is called myESCP. It comprises of erosion and sediment control facilities such as Check Dam Diversion Channel, Silt Fence. These facilities which are compliance to MSMA 2nd edition of chapter 12. The CPESC knowledge has led him to further on the ESCP development.

This year will be his 13 years anniversary on his computer business. He is keeps on update his knowledge especially in stormwater field where enable him to invent more values in engineering products. With his continuity development of products in stormwater, he has further acquired significant amount of experience in this field. It can be from direct feedback from software client i.e. consultant engineers, his own involvement in stormwater projects, and during his events in stormwater.

As a result, the cumulative skill and knowledge which covered from the design process involved up to construction and completion of stormwater works. It would be one of the best sharing with participants. He is also a civil engineer with good technical knowledge in engineering concepts.
