SYNOPSIS Passive Fire Protection according to the code of practice shall be referred to as escape and protection against fire, which shall comply with the requirements of both the Uniform Building Bylaw and Director General of Fire Services, Malaysia. This include materials used and adopted, finishes, suspended ceilings, doors to electrical compartment and ventilation design for smoke operation to sustain the minimum fire resistance duration that comply with the equivalent design criteria and standard. In this talk, both speakers will elaborate on their design practices with respect to passive fire protection in their various projects in Asia.
BIODATA OF SPEAKERS
Mr. Tony Koo graduated with MEng (1st Class Hons) from University of Bath in 2004. He currently holds a position of Technical Director at AECOM Malaysia Transportation M&E division, with over 15 years of works experience in consulting, design, construction and retro-fit M&E building services with 8 years of works experience in the UK, accomplished projects in European Continent, UAE, Russia, Africa, Taiwan and 7 years in several Southeast Asian countries including Singapore and Malaysia. He is a registered CIBSE LCC member as well as an Associate with IFireEng. Aside from his technical and engineering knowledge, he has multi-faceted technical, managerial and quality control skills with experience in leading multi-discipline projects, project management and quality control on project delivery. On his infrastructure experience, he has participated in mega projects such as Crossrail UK, London Underground Cooling The Tube, Victoria LU Station Upgrade, Network Rail, Dubai Metro, Singapore LTA projects, Jakarta Metro Phase 1, Vietnam Ho Chi Minh Metro Phase 1, High Speed Rail Malaysia (MyHSR), Singapore Malaysia Rapid Transit Link Phase 2 (RTS). He was the M&E Lead for KVMRT SBK Line (Line 1) underground section and he is now the M&E Project Lead Consultant for the KVMRT SSP Line (Line 2) Underground section.
Ir. Lee Lin Kheng graduated with BEng (Hons) from Universiti Tenaga Nasional in 2003 and obtained his MSc in 2007 from The University of Manchester. He has more than 15 years of practical experience since graduation, and his experience includes detailed design of Electrical and MEP services for building and major infrastructure projects around the Asia Region. Currently, he is an Associate Director of AECOM Malaysia. In his years of professional experience, he is a lead electrical and MEP Coordinator for 12 Elevated Stations (Phase 1) of KVMRT SBK Line, Vietnam Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Line 1, Singapore Jurong Region Line, Malaysia East Coast Rail Link and Malaysia Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS). He is also currently a Project Manager cum Endorsing Professional Electrical Engineer for KVMRT – SSP Line Underground Detailed Design Package 2.
