SYNOPSIS

The Secret Garden of 1 Utama, located on the roof of the seven-storey 1 Utama Shopping Mall, occupies 30,000 sq ft and is the largest rooftop garden in South East Asia.

It features about 500 species of beautiful, interesting, rare and unusual plants, including

    Cool-climate plants such as pear, rhododendron, magnolia and hydrangea
    Accent plants such as palms and century-plants
    Giant aroids
    Tropical climbers such as passion flowers, click vines and garlic vines
    Food plants such as rice, pepper, banana, coffee, tea and cocoa
    Ornamental foliage plants such as begonias and crotons and
    Aquatics plants such as the giants Amazon water lily and the Madagascar tree arum

The Secret Garden took five years to develop. Because of its rooftop location, the garden was hidden from public view and kept secret until it was opened on 25 May 2009.
