SYNOPSIS
Malaysia is gifted by abundant of Biomass. Malaysian popular biomass such as empty fruit bunch, EFB and biogas from POME besides others from non palm oil sectors such as bagasse, rice husks etc. Malaysian government had in the past to promote the biomass technical development, processing and marketing. These inclusive of 4 fuel energy policy, 5 fuel energy policy, Renewable energy etc. Those initiatives had indeed attracted many players around the world to Malaysia to jointly develop this sector. There are numerous government agencies like SEDA and MIDA to facilitate biomass players to participate in the biomass vast market and potential. This presentation shows the current scenario of both solids biomass and biogas development currently in taking place in Malaysia.
SPEAKER BIODATA
Ir. Wan Wai Thong was graduated with a Bachelor in Engineering Hons. Agriculture in 1993 from Universiti Putra Malaysia. He worked his way up with the required knowledge and skills in palm oil milling industries. He obtained his 2nd grade steam engineer certificate by DOSH in 1995 and 1st grade steam engineer certificate by DOSH in 1997. In 1996, he obtained his Diploma in Palm Oil Milling and management offered by PORIM. He had worked in power plant for more than 6 years with experience in operation and maintenance of high pressure and temperature power plant, study and monitor boiler efficiency and related machineries. He furthers his engineering quest by obtaining Professional Engineer certification by Board of Engineer Malaysia (BEM) in year 2011 and is a member of Institute of Engineer Malaysia (IEM). Experienced in managing engineering and contracting works for 2 years.
Mr. Tan Eng Hau is the Managing Director of Treehouz Asia Sdn Bhd. Graduated with Bachelor in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from Universiti Putra Malaysia in year 2000, Mr. Tan started his career as Automation and Instrumentation engineer. Since 2013, Mr. Tan leads a team of engineers in designing biomass processing plants to convert South East Asia's biomass into solid biofuel, especially on oil palm-based pellets for Japan and South Korea markets. Mr. Tan is the Secretary General of Malaysian Biomass Industries Confederation and currently the Malaysia's representative in ISO/TC 238 Solid Biofuels Technical Committee.
