SYNOPSIS
In the current state of affairs the general perception of engineers serving in government sector is different than those peers in the industry. In the industrial sector, engineers are pushed to the limit of their engineering fundamental knowledge and skills in trying to achieve proficiency. On the contrary, engineers in the government sector are only challenged in part as their job function is more to management or to some extent engineering management. The speaker having spent 33 years of his earlier career in the government and now in industry, shares views on how public sector engineers can excel and place themselves in the best position whether in public or private sector.
