SYNOPSIS
The objective of the fire alarm is to ensure the occupants inside the premises are provided sufficient time to evacuate the building and this is clearly specified in the various clauses in the UBBL 1984. Smoke is the FIRST by product of combustion which is also the main cause of death in a fire incident. Heat is also being transmitted by the smoke hence as the smoke layer thickens at the ceiling level, sufficient heat will cause a flashover effect. A Fire Alarm panel during a fire mode must provide critical information to first responder to aid fire fighting. It must also integrate life safety management during the emergency situation. Basically there are 2 types of Fire Alarm System namely Conventional and Addressable, the characteristics are very different and are the cost of the system.
With the advancement of technology Addressable Fire Alarm system has enhance their features like the followings :
- Safety features - Redundant CPU with Hot Standby Facilities - Hot Swap for panel loop card exchange - Flexible programming via PC and panel touch screen/keypad - Ethernet capability for remote diagnostic and downloading. - Detector LED can be individually switch off - Resettable and reusable break glass
Participants would have a hands-on experience on the demo set Conventional and Addressable Fire Alarm panel during the visit.
