SYNOPSIS
The restructuring of our industry more than 10 years ago is the beginning of a new era to handle the financial burden. Although it includes building more infrastructures but it is not tailored to incorporate in keeping abreast with the latest state of the art design. This presentation will attempt to share the anticipated future of our water industry into the Integrated services environment through the big data and internet of things in line with the approach of the Industrial Revolution 4.0. Realization of what is presented may not take place immediately as it will require a very huge investment both human and capital assets but at least it will get ourselves ready for the quantum leap to transform our water industry into the IOT for better efficiency, accuracy and transparency.
BIODATA OF SPEAKER
Datuk Ir. Abdul Kadir Mohd Din is the Managing Director of Sacra Sol Sdn Bhd, offering advisory services on water, wastewater, by products, green technology and environmental management. He was also appointed as Board of Director for Ranhill SAJ Sdn Bhd since July 2017.
He was re-elected as President of The Malaysian Water Association (MWA) in April 2019 (2019-2021). Prior to this appointment, he was the former CEO of Indah Water Konsortium Sdn Bhd, a national sew-erage company from 2009-2016 and the former COO with Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad, Malaysia’s Wa-ter Asset Management Company from 2007-2009, which both also wholly owned by the Minister of Finance incorporated.
He has more than 36 years of industry experience in the water and sewerage sectors, vast exposure in the engineering consultancy and public listed companies in senior management positions. He has extensive practical knowledge in planning, designing, managing water and sewerage works projects within the country and abroad in the United Kingdom, Brunei Darussalam, Middle East and Singapore. He holds a Diploma in Civil Engineering from UiTM, Shah Alam and graduated with a Bachelor of Sci-ence (Hons) degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland.
He is a Professional Engineer registered with the Board of Engineers, Malaysia (BEM), ASEAN Char-tered Professional Engineer (ACPE) and Chartered Engineer with the Institution of Civil Engineers, UK (MICE). He is also a Chairman of Malaysian Water Academy Sdn Bhd, Alumni Member of the Confeder-ation of British Industry (CBI), and member of various professional institutions which includes: Fellow of Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (FIEM), Malaysian Water Association (MWA), Environmental Man-agement of Research Associate of Malaysia (ENSEARCH), Malaysian Water Partnership (MyWP), Member of Malaysian Capacity Development Network for Sustainable Water Management (MyCDNet), Fellow of Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM), and Water Environment Federation (WEF), United States. He was appointed as Adjunct Lecturer for Universiti Technologi Petronas (UTP) Jan 2018-Jan 2020 semester, Industry Panel for MSc Integrated Construction Project Management programme for Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) from June 2018-May 2020, Chairman for the CIDB MyCESMM com-mittee, Committee of CIDB CITP Initiative Working Group on National Construction Cost Centre, Com-mittee of CIDB CITP Thrust Working Group on Internationalization, Committee of CITP Life-Cycle Cost-ing (TC-LCC), Committee of CIDB Subsidiary Company group and Panel Chairman of CIDB MCIEA Award 2018 & 2019.
