SYNOPSIS
MARDI Seberang Perai is one of the earliest established MARDI station in 1972 (Bumbung Lima) and the New Station Complex officially launched in 1991 (Bertam). It is known as a Centre of Excellence (COE) for Rice research and also known as Rice@MARDI. It objectives are to sustain as well as increase the rice research and innovation, foundation seed production, rice research consultation, rice technology commercialization and transfer. R&D focus on seed breeding for high yield rice variety, effective rice production aspect (optimum input, Pest and disease (P&D) management, field mechanization and post-harvest handling). 49 rice varieties were released since 1964, P&D management packages, post-harvest technology and mechanization systems have been introduced.
NOTE: The visit is strictly limited to 30 participants registered on a first-come, first-served basis.
