Abstract of the Talk
In the current age, there is a great tremendous push for digital change through all aspect of busine ss, way of life, regardless of geographical location or industry sector. This digital transformation has now become the top strategic priority in all aspect of life, business and even government, from example, factories or companies are implementing Industry 4.0 while to the day to day consumer life, the implementation of a cashless society or another buzz word IoT.
Digital transformation will impact society in a big way. By 2020, over 20 billion devices will be connected to the Internet of Things (IoT), cashless transaction will outnumber cash, 82% of paper-based administration will be replaced by digital services. Of the most fundamental challenges that this has taken place is how can we guarantee IDENTITY. What are the technology available today that are taken into consideration to address this? Are we moving too hastily into this new hype too quickly without consideration all the consequences? Is it worth to convert all our daily activities into digital? Did we address or consider all the security aspect? Finally, the talk will conclude with some of the key challenges, concerns and opportunities on some options available on how we handle such a digitally-driven change.
Biodata of Speaker Name: Ir Bernard Lim Company: Tactilis Sdn Bhd Position: Vice President, Operations
Ir Bernard had over 22 years of operation experience working in the electronics industry. He has held various senior management roles and the recent role is the Vice President of Operations in Tactilis Sdn Bhd,Biometric Smartcard, a technology startup company. Prior to this role, he was also holding various senior management roles in factories such as Deputy General Manager, Business Unit Manager, Product Marketing Manager,Technical Managers, Program Managers. His background includes holding full P&L responsibility from complex, small to large electronic manufacturing operations, multi-site operations, and management with 60 to over 500s of employees/contractors. Over the years he had also holds various engineering roles in Operation, Reliability and Failure Analysis, ISO Technical Manager, New Product Transfer and Semiconductor Process Integration Engineer. He had also considerable experience in transferring and setup large electronic manufacturing with clean room facility. In the past he had also sat in various Industry Advisory Boards, IAB. Ir Bernard graduated with a B.Eng (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering in 1996 and subsequently received his Master in Business Administration in 2004. He is a Fellow of IEM and Senior Member of IEEE.
