SYNOPSIS
A successful project is primarily defined as a project that has met:
(i) Its budget (ii) Its completion date (iii) Its intended purpose which comprises the detailed scope.
In addition, other criteria recently have also become a factor of project success:-
(i) Safety KPIs (ii) Stakeholder’s satisfaction
The talk will revolve around the presentation of sources of failure during two phases of a project, i.e. the Pre-Award Phase and the Post-Award Phase and the project management tools that can be applied to avoid or mitigate these failures. The presentation will from the perspective his own experiences as well as from material from research articles for correlation.
BIODATA OF SPEAKER
Ir. Faizal Abdullah Sanusi is a member of the Project Management Technical Division in IEM after serving this committee for the past 10 years, including as its Chairman.
His engineering and project management experience spans across the oil & gas and building industry since he began his career 30 years ago. Some of his notable career highlights as follows:
i. Project Advisor and Project Services Manager for Oil & Gas Exploration & Production MNCs ii. Project Services Division Head for a local Offshore Oil & Gas Service Provider iii. Project Manager for the Malaysian Securities Commission 4 star intelligent building project iv. Director of a local Facilities Management company overseeing Oil & Gas O&M projects
