SYNOPSIS

Think City is a community focused urban rejuvenation outfit that seeks to create more liveable and sustainable cities in Malaysia.  Think City works to provide innovative urban solutions and drive urban regeneration in our cities, anchored by community participation.

With the aim of transforming KL into a world-class city, Think City Sdn Bhd teamed up with GDP Architects to develop a set of supplementary initiatives to existing government plans for the KL city centre, which we have branded "Power Up KL". It identifies a loss of identity and traditional economic functions, poor internal mobility and underutilised cultural assets as the key issues in the city.  

To address these, and ‘power up’ KL three solution packages are proposed– 1) Urban renewal and place-making in traditional neighbourhoods (Energise), 2) Connectivity and mobility investments (Connect) and 3) the creation of a network of world class cultural and creative destinations (Create).


BIODATA OF SPEAKER

Dr. Matt has more than 18 year’s practical experience in urban planning and analytics. During his career in government and as a consultant he has been involved in more than 200 planning and development projects in suburban, brownfield, remote and international settings.

He is an experienced analyst, strategic planner and project manager, and has led complex consultation, data collection, master planning and public amenity construction projects.

He is currently employed as the Programme Urban Solutions for Think City, a Malaysian organisation specialising in community-focused urban regeneration.
