SYNOPSIS
The buildings in Kuala Lumpur city are getting higher and higher, the need to transfer potable water from the ground level to the highest floor is a challenge to Engineers. Selecting the RIGHT pump which MUST be able to fulfill the followings (to name a few):
• Best Pump Efficiency selection
• NPSHa
• Pump controls which are Energy Efficient
• High reliability with easy of maintenance
• Availability of spare parts and technical support
Is the pump supplier to be blamed if the above is not achieved?
Selecting the RIGHT pump is the responsibility of the engineer based on the various criteria given to the pump supplier, if it failed under the criteria, then the pump supplier is responsible otherwise the responsibility rest with the engineer.
The visit to Grundfos Malaysia Sdn Bhd would provide a better understanding of the factors to consider when selecting a pump especially when used in a high rise building.
