SYNOPSIS

The talk aims to explain the importance of integrity in Malaysia.   The National Integrity Plan (NIP) was launched on 23rd of April 2004 with a detailed plan to achieve the 4th challenge outlined in Vision 2020, that is “the challenge of establishing a fully moral and ethical society, whose citizens are strong in religious and spiritual values and imbued with the highest of ethical standards”. On the same date, The Malaysian Institute of Integrity (INTEGRITI) was inaugurated to coordinate, monitor and evaluate the implementation of the NIP. The plan, dubbed as The Turtle Model, focuses on 8 main institutions, i.e. family, community, civil society, socio-cultural, religious, economic, political, and administration. Throughout the last 12 years since its establishment, INTEGRITI has hosted and initiated various programmes and activities across the districts and states, at national and international levels to help promote and create awareness towards achieving the country’s vision which is to become a nation of high integrity. The speaker will also make some comparison with other countries and point out why we should care about integrity in our country.
