SYNOPSIS
We live in an increasingly dynamic, turbulent and uncertain environment. What used to work can no longer be relied upon for future success. Globalization and rapid technological change, among others have led to increasing uncertainty in business. Uncertainty comes from the unknowns, requiring creative management responses, novel coping mechanisms and entrepreneurial efforts. In this kind of environment, traditional approaches can often fall short. Businesses must identify, evaluate, manage and mitigate the different types of risk for improved decision making. Modern organizations must frequently make decisions based on incomplete information, lacking knowledge of the future and its expectations. What does this mean for managers having to make decisions and develop strategies in a highly uncertain environment? How do we as individuals and representatives of corporations anticipate and navigate this in search of our goals and objectives? This talk will review the aspects of uncertainties that organizations face, the different and possible types of risks that they can be exposed to and the corporate governance principles to adhere to ensure all stakeholders’ interests are protected.
