SYNOPSIS
The safety of consumers is very vital as far as electrical products are concerned. Most consumer electrical products complied with International standards. It is therefore important to educate the public on the various causes of electrical incidents. The consumer electrical products are produced by manufacturers all over the world and they comply with requirements by each country’s electrical system in terms of voltage. The public needs to know the various voltage systems. The manner that consumer electrical products are to be used safely must be sufficiently conveyed to the public.
JKR's Electrical Engineering Branch holds the task and responsibility of the public electrical installation such as street lights and traffic lights on roads, electrical works for government buildings and to ensure the implementation of electrical safety practices in government buildings.
The Electricity Supply (Amendment) Act 2015 also known as Act A1501 was passed by Parliament in July 2015 and came into enforced on the 1st Jan 2016. As the Regulatory Body, Energy Commission has been strongly involved in the regulation of safety management practices via the implementation of safety codes and household electricity regulations.
The forum will provide an overview on the electrical safety from different aspects (Consumer/Manufacturer, Government and Regulatory Body).
