SYNOPSIS
In its race to becoming develop country by year 2020, Malaysia has embarked into Public Private Partnership initiative as an alternative for smart partnership with the readily available experts in construction business. It was reported that one of the significant outcome is that, the mechanism has expedited the tedious process of providing the infrastructure and public facilities for use in time. The high-performance consultant and contractor has directly contributed to the development agenda of the country at optimum cost. From the 830 projects carried out under PPP initiative, Malaysia government able to save cost amounted to RM 222.9 billion (Bernama.com Friday, 14 October 2016). This seminar is going to share the fundamental knowledge on Public Private Partnership model in construction business. The content cover PPP framework, scope of work and the expected level of expertise of the people involved. At the end of the lecture there will be a sharing session of best practices and experiences.
BIODATA OF SPEAKER
Professor Datin Ir. Dr. Zainab Mohamed is a senior lecturer in Faculty of Civil Engineering at Universiti Teknologi MARA for more than 30 years. Besides her expertise in geotechnical engineering research and teaching, more than half of the service she was seconded to hold university management posts such as Dean of Civil Engineering and Rector of UiTM Perak. Currently she is the Assistant Vice Chancellor of UiTM. She is currently the Assistant Vice Chancellor of the Office of development, infrastructure and info structure of UiTM. She is overseeing the planning, development and maintenance of 34 campuses all over Malaysia. Out of the total, 16 of the projects were developed and operating as Public Private Partnership campuses. She also has the hand-on experience of managing and taking care on the operation of one of this campus. Professor Zainab is also active in IEM, IEM WE, BEM and NGOs activities.
Dr. Kharizam Ismail is a senior lecturer in the Faculty of Architecture Planning and Surveying (FSPU), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), for more than 15 years. She holds a degree in Quantity Surveying from the Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen Scotland, a Master’s Degree in 2002 and a PhD in 2012 from Universiti Teknologi MARA. She has presented more than 10 conference papers both locally and internationally, including United Kingdom, Dubai, China, Hong Kong and Australia. Her research interest includes project management, public private partnership and value for money (VFM). She is currently the Head Centre of Graduate Studies for UiTM Cawangan Perak.
