SYNOPSIS
The HULU TERENGGANU HYDROELECTRIC PROJECT is developed by Tenaga Nasional Berhad and the main civil work (Lot CW2 Works) was awarded to Loh & Loh – Sinohydro Joint Venture. The project commenced on 20 May 2011 and completed on schedule on 18 December 2015, a contract period of 1674 days.
Four separate contracts were awarded to others under the following main contracts: 1. Lot CW1 Work – Preliminary works 2. Lot EM1 Works – Electrical and Mechanical Works 3. Lot EM2 Works – High Voltage Switchyard 4. Lot EM3 Works – Electrical and Mechanical Works at Tembat Power House
The main project components of Lot CW2 Works consist of : 1. A gated spillway; 2. Puah Dam - Zoned earthfilled embankment dam; 3. Puah Power Intake and headrace tunnel; 4. Underground Power House installed with two vertical Francis turbines; 5. Access tunnels and construction adits; 6. Tailrace Tunnel and Tailrace Outlet Structure; 7. Generation Control Building and associated buildings; 8. Switchyard platform; 9. Access roads; and 10. Tembat Dam – concrete gravity dam for sub-catchment water transfer.
The Tembat Water Transfer Scheme was later separated from the Lot CW2 Contract after a power house was incorporated at the Tembat Transfer Tunnel outlet. The Tembat Civil and Associated Works (Lot CW3) consist of the following components: 1. Tembat Power Intake; 2. Tembat Transfer Tunnel; 3. Tembat Access Tunnel; and 4. Tembat Power House installed with two horizontal Francis turbines.
BIODATA OF SPEAKER
Loke CK has been involved with the Hulu Terengganu Hydroelectric Project since the project commenced on 20 May 2011. He was the Senior Technical Manager under the management of Loh & Loh Constructions Sdn Bhd assigned for construction of surface works, which include Puah Dam, Spillway, Switchyard Platform and all buildings. He obtained Degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering from University of Newcastle, Tyne, UK in year 1988
He assumed the position of Project Manager of the Loh & Loh – Sinohydro Joint Venture management since 01 January 2015.design and construction. Experienced at working to ISO standards of quality control.
