SYNOPSIS
People nowadays are handling with electrical and electronic products more than centuries ago. However today, the electrical and electronic products are more complicated with high technology and more functionality. Thus safety, efficiency and compatibility are important areas to be considered. From the point of view of the user, how to ensure this?
1. Standard: In this chapter, you will learn how the standard 2. is developed and who responsible for the development. - Why so many standards to be used? - What is the different between IEC, ISO, BS, EN, MS, ASTM etc? 3. Accreditation: How to ensure that the products that has been comply with certain standards, did really complied? 4. Product Certification Scheme: - What is the scheme and what benefits to the user? - National scheme or International scheme?
Speaker Biography
Ir. Surian Rasol is freelance consultant for electrical product testing and certification scheme, laboratory development and standard development. Graduated from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 2001, he has 15 years working experience with SIRIM QAS International Sdn Bhd in electrical product testing. He was qualified Technical Assessor of IECEE CB Scheme under category of Power, Protection, Cables and Installation and Technical Assessor for Standard Malaysia under Skim Akreditasi Makmal Malaysia (SAMM). He also involve in National Standard Committee and IEC SC23B MT9 for electrical product standard development.
