SYNOPSIS

Building Information Modelling (BIM) is a process in developing high quality information of an asset available from its inception/design through its construction and ultimately operation, enabling better decisions to be made during procurement, thereafter providing improved level of data to the facility management team.  The adoption of BIM in construction industry enhances all-stage progress visibility by allowing all parties involved to monitor the status of the project from the inception through its delivery.

This 1-day course focuses on how professionals need to understand BIM, integrate it into contract management and scheduling including its delivery methods ie commencing from the design process, data formats, common data sharing and collaboration platform amongst various project proponents. It looks into the entire process of the design and construction of an asset, allowing for immediate detection and reaction should there be any shortfall or issues.  BIM increases productivity resulting from intensive collaboration between industry players.  This course prepares the participants for BIM adoption within their practices, through an elaborate understanding of the BIM protocols as opposed to conventional approaches of engineering practices.  The national’s BIM roadmap, industry’s preparedness and way forward will also be deliberated along with insights into Government’s initiatives taken to-date.
