Synopsis
The title of this paper contains an example of implementation and current practice at the industries on how we want to go beyond legal compliance. The presentation provides the safety and health system approach and review of OSH management and effective ways in managing OSH. The paper produced a conceptual framework on how to manage OSH systematically and more effectively beyond legal. This framework was used to change the current practise to the proactive practices that have five goals:
• to identify sets of practices with effective management of OSH; • to improve safety outcomes in workplaces • to define a leadership styles and approach • to explain the context features that have greatest influence on establishments’ commitment to effective management of OSH; • to understand the similarities or differences between the employers’ and employee representatives’ perspectives;
Biodata Of Speaker
Ms. Norwani Ahmat is a Certified Safety, Health and Environment Lead Auditor, Safety and Health Officer (SHO) from DOSH and certified Radiation Protection Officer (RPO) from Atomic Energy Licensing Board (AELB). She obtained her Bachelor in Chemical and Process Engineering from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in 1999.
Ms. Norwani Ahmat is an accomplished ESH practitioner and excellent trainer in the area of Environmental Management System and Safety Management System. She has specialized in ISO14001 and OHSAS 18001. She has over 15 years experiences as SHE practitioner and has been extensively involved in the ISO14001 and OHSAS 18001 implementation in many companies in Malaysia. Currently is the Head of Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) for Proton Holdings Berhad.
