SYNOPSIS

Presently 435 nuclear power reactors in operation in 30 countries are delivering cost competitive electricity to consumers, creating significant job, investment and business opportunities, supporting enterprises, contributing significantly to these nations economic growth. Several key factors including diversifying energy sources for enhancing energy security and initiatives to reduce carbon emission, amongst others have put nuclear back on the political, business and social agenda of many nations contributing to the 68 new nuclear power plants being currently constructed. This presentation aims to provide an overview of Nuclear Education and Training highlighting competencies needed to support a Nuclear Power Programme (NPP) as well as Construction of Nuclear Power Plants- Some Challenges and its impact on the schedule and cost of construction.
