SYNOPSIS

Without good people management skills, even the most carefully planned project can fall apart in a flash. Managing people effectively means more than just keeping them in line: It means using finely tuned interpersonal skills and astutely reading emotional cues to get the job done right and on time.

Survey indicated that most Project Managers (PMs) didn’t know very much about emotional intelligence (EQ). Project Managers understand basic project management tools and techniques and those are prerequisites for success even as a junior PM but to advance your career, you will need strong interpersonal skills or soft skills and emotional intelligence provides the framework for those skills. PMs who master emotional intelligence will set themselves apart from other PMs. They will be able to achieve more with the same team. They will excel in their careers and they will feel more satisfied with themselves and their relationships with others.


BIODATA OF SPEAKER

Ir. Dr. Ahmad Anuar bin Othman, PEng, FIEM, MIQM, MRCA, CCPM, MPMI, PMP graduated with a Doctorate in Project Management from UiTM, Shah Alam in 2006. He received Master of Science (Distinction) in Construction Management from University of Birmingham in 1998. He earns his Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering from State University of New York, Buffalo in 1986.

Ir. Dr. Ahmad Anuar bin Othman is a Project Management Professional (PMP) registered with Project Management Institute USA. He has more than 25 years of experience and has been actively involved in promoting Project Management knowledge through developing and delivering training programs. Over the years he has been involved in variety of projects related to hydroelectric, irrigation, coastal, water supply, flood mitigation, mechanical piping and building. He has been invited as Guest Lecturer in the subject of Project Management in a number of local universities. He is a former Director of Human Capital Development Institute of DID.

He is also a Certified Construction Project Manager with CIDB. He also serves as a Member in Panel of Assessors in the Malaysian Construction Industry Excellence Awards under CIDB since 2014.

Ir. Dr. Ahmad Anuar bin Othman is a certified Quality System Senior Auditor and registered Quality System Consultant. He is currently the Chairman of Project Management Technical Division of IEM, a council member of IEM and a Board Member, Board of Engineers Malaysia.

He has completed a University of New South Wales program for Leadership and similar program organized Center for Creative Leadership San Diego, California. He attended training in Human Resources Management at University of California Los Angeles and Human Resource Institute of New Zealand.
