SYNOPSIS

The management of safety and health in the oil and gas industry. Like in others is also governed by Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Act 1994 and the Factories and Machinery Act 1967. This talk intends to provide an overview of the statutory requirements, understand the individual responsibilities pertaining to the act.

Also, the participants are briefed on how to develop their professional safety leadership and management skills at workplace effectively. Subsequently, to develop the people around them in creating a safe culture for their respective organization through PERSONAL TRANSFORMATION.

BIODATA OF SPEAKER

Ms. Norwani Ahmat is a Certified Safety, Health and Environment Lead Auditor, Safety and Health Officer (SHO) from DOSH and certified Radiation Protection Officer (RPO) from Atomic Energy Licensing Board (AELB). She obtained her Bachelor in Chemical and Process Engineering from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in 1999.

Ms. Norwani Ahmat is an accomplished ESH practitioner and excellent trainer in the area of Environmental Management System and Safety Management System. She has specialized in ISO14001 and OHSAS 18001. She has over 15 years experiences as SHE practitioner and has been extensively involved in the ISO14001 and OHSAS 18001 implementation in many companies in Malaysia. Currently is the Head of Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) for Proton Holdings Berhad.

Mr. Saravana Kumar Ramasamy is a Registered Safety and Health Consultant with the DOSH Malaysia since 2002. He obtained his Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 2005 and then Masters in Occupational Safety and Health Management from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 2011. He is an active practitioner in the Occupational Safety and Health field since 2002.

During his tenure at Malaysian Marine and Heavy Engineering, Mr. Saravana Kumar was the Health Safety Environment Executive; involved in developing safety training programs, enforcing site safety rules and regulations and managing safety and health system for GUMUSUT KAKAP SEMI FPS Project under SHELL and PETRONAS, KIKEH SPAR Project with MURPHY OIL. He had been responsible as part of the team to achieve 5,000,000 man hours without LTI (Loss Time Injury) in oil and gas fabrication industry.  He has also presented during recent 15th National Conference and Exhibition on Occupational Safety and Health (COSH).
