Synopsis
The one day program meant to provide the participants with basic and generic awareness on the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) issues. Started with the introduction to the OSHA Act 1994 being the pillar of HSE operation in Malaysia, the speaker will also touch on the Marine Safety Committee (MSC 73) being the fundamental requirement of HSE in maritime industry. The session would also touch upon the role of managers in managing the policy, operation, and training that are pre-requisite to successful implementation of HSE matters.
Objectives
To provide the participants with the awareness towards the importance of HSE in general and in marine industry specifically.
Biodata of Speaker
The speaker is a Professor in Marine Transport System at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), 81300 Skudai, Johor. He possess 3rd Class Marine Engineers on top of B.Eng, Masters and PhD in various marine related areas. He used to sail on board a ship for a year on internship program and later joining UTM as an academic staff since 1983 until now. He has taught a number of undergraduate courses in the Marine Technology program at UTM including 'Marine Safety and Environment' at the post graduate level. He has been involved in a number of marine related R&D, consultancy as well as being in various management positions at UTM.
