SYNOPSIS:

Depending on the availability of various natural resources, electricity can be generated via coal, oil, natural gas, hydro, nuclear, wind and geothermal, to name a few. Today, with the limited fuel supply and increasing environmental concerns, most policy makers and developers have placed great emphasis on green energy.    

The objective of this talk is to introduce to the audience the various power generation technologies that are commonly applied in the region, as well as their advantages and disadvantages.

BIODATA OF SPEAKER:

Ir. Fam Yew Hin is a Registered Professional Engineer with BEM and a Corporate Member of IEM. Graduated with a Mechanical Engineering Degree from the University of Sheffield, Ir. Fam has during the past 16 years served in various capacities in the power generation industry.

Ir Fam has been actively involved in IEM activities, he is the current Chairman of the Mechanical Engineering Technical Division (IEM), member of the Standing Committee on Activities, and member of the Training Committee of the Engineering Support & Maintenance Services and R&D in Engineering Cluster.
