Synopsis of Talk

The Government established the National Cyber Security Policy (NCSP) in 2006. The policy seeks to ensure that the Critical National Information Infrastructure (CNII) covering 10 sectors namely Information and Communications, Banking and Finance, National Defense and Security, Government, Emergency Services, Energy, Transportation, Water, Health, Food and Agriculture, are being adequately protected from cyber threats. The talk will give an overview of the programs and activities that have been implemented and that are being planned. Members working or involved in the 10 CNII sectors would benefit with a better understanding of the policy and the issues and challenges surrounding its implementation. This understanding will enable decision makers in these sectors on the correct approach to comply to the policy.

Biodata Of Speaker

Engr. Fattah is a member of IEM and has more than 30 years of experience. He started off as an engineer with Lembaga Letrik Negara (now TNB) in 1978 where he was involved in the feasibility study for the Bakun Hydroelectric Dam project. With his computer simulation experience, he later specialized in ICT technical applications when he joined Esso Malaysia in 1983. He left Esso Malaysia in 1995 to join System Consultancy Services Sdn Bhd (SCS) as a consultant to the Malaysian Armed Forces. In 2002, he left SCS and has since provided consulting services to the banking/insurance sector, the government sector as well as the petroleum sector. He is currently a consultant to CyberSecurity Malaysia on the implementation of the National Cyber Security Policy.
He is also IEM’s representative to SIRIM’s ISC-G committee which oversees the development and adoption of ICT standards for Malaysia.
