SYNOPSIS

Presently, as of 15 April 2015, there are 443 operational reactors in 30 countries with an installed electric net capacity of about 381 GW. These plants are delivering cost competitive electricity to consumers, creating significant job, investment and business opportunities, supporting enterprises, contributing significantly to these nations economic growth. Several key factors including diversifying energy sources for enhancing energy security and initiatives to reduce carbon emission, amongst others have put nuclear back on the political, business and social agenda of many nations.

Currently 15 countries are constructing 66 nuclear power plants with an installed capacity of 64. More than one hundred nuclear power plants are being planned, including that by Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia. This creates a need for a large number of skilled and competent manpower to support nuclear power programmes (NNP) across the globe

In view that skilled and competent manpower in the whole value chain of the nuclear industry is fundamental to ensure a safe and effective introduction/ implementation of a Nuclear Power Programme (NPP), this presentation aims to provide an overview of the Career Opportunities in the Nuclear Industry and Nuclear Education & Training showcasing the Experience of countries like the UK and France.
