ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Ir. Prof. Dr. Jeffrey Chiang Choong Luin is currently the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering & Built Environment, SEGI University. He graduated from Wollongong University NSW Australia with BEng (Hons) Civil in 1991 and PhD in 1995. Before embarking into a career in the academia, he worked as a Structural Engineer with Arup Jururunding Sdn Bhd (KL). He is actively involved in drafting the Malaysian Standards on design of concrete structures (as TC Secretary) and is now serving as Chairman of IEM-TC on Earthquake was the Past Chairman of IEM-TC Wind Loading.

He was the Past Chairman of IEM Civil & Structural Engineering Technical Division and has served as IEM Honorary Secretary and Treasurer. He has recently been elected to serve again as the Honorary Treasurer of IEM. In the international arena, he is an active member of the International Committee on Concrete Model Code for Asia, as the WG Coordinator on design. His research interests are in structural behaviour and design of concrete structures in shear, wind loading and earthquake loading.

Ir. Tu Yong Eng is a Professional Engineer with vast experience in civil and structural design and construction. He is also actively involved in continuing education and research, participating and organizing various courses, seminars and conferences.

He hold several key positions in the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) as well in numerous national and international events, inc: Council Members of the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (2008-2011, 2012-2015), Advisor to Civil and Structural Engineering Technical Division (CSTD) of the IEM (2009-2011), Committee Member 9th (2006), 10th (2009) and 11th (2012) International Conference on Concrete Engineering and Technology, Secretary of IEM Position Paper on the prevention of Collapse of Scaffolding and Temporary Work.

He was a member of various Technical Committees on the drafting of several Malaysian Standard (MS) and MS Eurocode and advisor to several renowned local Colleges and Universities. He has also published more than ten (10) Papers in both local and international bulletins and conferences.
