SYNOPSIS
Boilers are used to produce hot water and steam in various industries such as industrial plants for process, hotels and hospitals for hot water and steam for ironing, sterilization etc, utilities for power generation. Depending on the design, boilers are capable of burning various conventional fuels and waste materials and they are range from small package producing under five tons of steam per hour to several hundred tons of steam per hour in the utility boiler.
The main operating expenditure of a boiler is fuel, hence with the soaring of fuel prices, owners and operators needs to understand right from the design and selection stage till the operating and maintenance stage of the boiler how energy is waste and need to understand how to recover this losses.
Performance of a boiler, like efficiency and evaporative ratio reduces with time due to the poor combustion heat transfer fouling and poor operation and maintenance. Deterioration of fuel and water quality also leads to poor performance. Efficiency testing helps us to find out how far the boiler efficiency drift away from the best efficiency. Any observed abnormal deviations could therefore be investigated to pinpoint the problem area for necessary corrective action. Performance monitoring pays-off in reduced fuel cost.
This course will provide you experiences in boiler design including fire tube & water tube boiler, auxiliary equipment, essential fitting for boiler, steam dryness, emission control equipment and managing Boiler efficiency through vigilant practices in Operation and Maintenance
