SYNOPSIS
Today, many engineers sitting in high positions assuming the role of a leader are complacent and believe that they have reached the apex or pinnacle of their career. Now is the time for rejoicing and savor the crop that has been harvested. Many a time they fail to realize the necessity to strengthen their commitments in the day to day discharge of duties and responsibilities as a leader. Leadership like many other competencies has qualities and responsibilities that tags along with the position.
Running an organization takes more than just skills and knowledge. It takes responsibilities and qualities that measures up with the demands of the environment and the work place. The course “Leadership for Engineers 2 – Leadership Skills Reinforced”, is one among a series of 10 (ten) courses that will gradually introduce the fundamentals and skill base that leads to competency as a leader, a much sought after ability by engineers. It is with these knowledge of the responsibilities and qualities of leadership that shall bring the leader to greater heights and excellence.
BIODATA OF SPEAKER
First Admiral Ingenieur Dato Hj Ahmad Murad Bin Hj Omar served as an Engineer in the Royal Malaysian Navy for 32 years 6 months. Joined as a cadet in 1974 and rose to the rank of First Admiral and retired from the service in 2007. He holds a Bachelor Engineering Degree (Mechanical) from UTM (1982) and completed his MSc in Business Engineering Management in Warwick UK in 2003.
Admiral Murad is a FELLOW of the Institute of Marine Engineering Science & Technology (IMarEST) United Kingdom and currently as Council Vice President. In February 2012, he was elected as the President of IMarEST South East Asia Division (SEAD) for a two-year term heading one among six Divisions worldwide. He is also a Chartered Engineer (CEng) registered with the UK Engineering Council.
He is also a FELLOW of the Institute of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) since 2004 and had acquired his Professional Engineer (PEng) qualification in 1989. In 2005 he was admitted as a member of SNAME (Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers) USA. Currently in IEM he holds the post as Advisor to the Marine Engineering & Naval Architect Technical Division and Chairman of Public Sector Engineers Special Interest Group (PSESIG).
Admiral Murad had been admitted as Academic Advisor and Industrial Advisor for UniKL (MIMET) and University Technology Malaysia (UTM) respectively. In February 2011, he was appointed as Adjunct Professor for University Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) Faculty Marine Science for a 4-year tenure ending Feb 2015. Currently he serves as Executive Chairman of Omahams Corp Sdn Bhd, Chairman of Marine Technical Center.
