Synopsis:
The application of “Building Information Modelling (BIM)” has progressed rapidly to be an indispensable technical engineering tool in all stages of engineering (planning, design & construction). As the engineering industry progresses and automates further, the demand for BIM applications will only escalate. Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) was foreseen by many, to complement BIM Technology, in order to meet the increasing demands. This BIM presentation will highlight how China Construction Development (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. (CCDM): (i) Explored & Initiated opportunities using BIM and VDC for projects in Malaysia, (ii) Overcame challenges in setting up the BIM team and (iii) the Resulting benefits. Case Studies will be presented to illustrate some of the significant benefits experienced by the Project Team and how they are changing the way they carry out their building project execution. CCDM hopes that these experiences may one day influence how projects will be delivered in the future.
