SYNOPSIS

Pusat Penyelidikan Kebombaan (PUSPEK) was officiated by YB Minister, Housing and Local Government on 24 October 2014. Built with four (4) research buildings/laboratories on a total of 20 acres land in Pusat Perindustrian Enstek, Nilai, Negeri Sembilan and is the first fire research centre in the country.

Currently lead by Director Dato Yusof Sidek, reporting to the Director General of Fire and Rescue Department Malaysia (FRDM) as one (1) of the division under Headquarters FRDM (Putrajaya).

PUSPEK vision is to be centre of excellent on fire research and development and mission to implement the research of science, technology and innovation of professional benefits to increase the effectiveness of FRDM and the industry.

There are four (4) sections in PUSPEK:

1.    OPERATIONAL RESEARCH
2.    RESCUE RESEARCH
3.    FIRE FIGHTING SYSTEM RESEARCH
4.    FIRE BEHAVIOUR RESEARCH

PUSPEK also handle the approval of building materials with a total of 26 categories including the new external cladding system. Any related products especially tested with foreign testing laboratory will be randomly tested here before getting the approval. Products taken from enforcement and CCC inspection or any other market sampling also will be tested in PUSPEK.

Among most interested testing facilities would be Fire Testing Furnace (Horizontal/Vertical Specimen), Fire Suppression Testing Chamber (Total Flooding Suppression Testing), Room Corner Test/Dual-Cone Calorimeter (Fire sizing/HRR), Halon Bank, Full range of Fabric Testing etc.
