SYNOPSIS
The talk will demonstrate how I built what I call my 'Professional Tool Kit'. All cases and practical models presented are real life examples. I worked in diverse industries - Machine Tools, Can Making, Materials Handling and Concrete Roofing products/processes. I will share how we embraced new Technology to become world leaders in our field. The process of continuous learning in Technical and Soft Skills of dealing with internal and external colleagues will be elaborated on. How the demands of the job led me to self teaching in areas like Automation, Simulation and Manufacturing Processes. It covers the relevance and experience of working for a large or a small company. My aim is to inspire young Engineers with the message that the Engineering principles have not changed but to have an open mind on how to use them. Also emphasize that there are abundant opportunities in all tiers of industries.
The approach covers: Getting noticed by working out of the box. Grab opportunities to further the career in varied industries with continuous learning. Earn respect by using knowledge to solve practical problems and become Technology Leader. Balance requirements of stakeholders, e.g. profitability, employees, H&S, ethics, environment. Communicating at all levels from the factory floor to the Board Room. Develop teams and empower them to create the next generation of engineers to be leaders. Use Simulation models to win support for my projects at all levels including Executive / Board. Mentor for young engineers.
